I love van gogh. I've been lucky enough to see many of his works in person, at the van gogh museum in Amsterdam, and various museums in New York.
My first van gogh was an attempt at Starry Night. This was before variegated wool was popular, so most of the wool I had to work with was one solid color, and I was somewhat limited in the wool choices I had.
The van gogh olive trees paintings lend themselves well to rug hooking, and I hooked two variations.
In 2004 I hooked van gogh's Cafe a Paris for a wedding gift for my friend Beth.
Since then I've rehooked Cafe a Paris, and offer it as a pattern. I see a big difference once I was dyeing wool myself, and had access to a #3 cutter.
I've always loved the Cypress tree paintings, and included one of those as well. This pattern is also available.
Here's the original in the museum of modern art in NYC.
And there's never enough starry night. One of Loopy's most popular kits, I've always intended to hook a large version again.
And here's the original, also at the MOMA in NYC. I was in awe the first time I saw it. There's often recreations of this that don't include all 11 stars. I've seen so many amazing variations of it and just love the interpretations of this beautiful work of art.
Loopy's van gogh's flowers kit takes four flowers from four different paintings.
There's so many other van gogh's just waiting to be hooked!
